HOMECOMING, A SUCCESS
Despite cold weather and Purdue’s heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin, Triangle’s Homecoming
Celebration can still be considered a success. As we have in the past, the active chapter put on a
hog roast cookout to give our alumni a chance to come back to Purdue and recollect on their times
here. A welcome thanks to the more than thirty alumni brothers, family members, and friends who
attended. We also like to especially thank Br. Derek Thomas pur00 and Mark Beatty, father of Br.
Scott Beatty pur04, who submitted winning bids on the signed basketball and football, respectively.
WOODWORKERS NEEDED
The large wooden crest in our chapter room has been without the helmet for some time. However, we
are having a difficult time finding someone to carve a new helmet. If anyone knows a credible
woodworker who would be able to help us, please email President Jason Fluhler at
jfluhler@purdue.edu.
SPRING ALUMNI GOLF OUTING
Purdue Triangle’s first alumni golf outing will be Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Birck Boilermaker
Golf Complex. For more information on this event, including prices and how to RSVP,

THIS YEAR’S GOALS As a chapter we are constantly looking for ways to improve and the goals that we created for this
year at our last Board of Director’s retreat reflect that desire. As for academics, our goal is to
attain a 3.0 house GPA. Pertaining to membership, we are working hard to meet our goal of rushing
150 young men and getting 40 pledges (through both fall and spring rush). We are also looking to get
more involved with other Greek houses by scheduling at least one event a month with a sorority and
one with another fraternity.
R.B. STEWART FRATERNITY AWARD OF EXCELLENCE This award, sanctioned by the Inter-fraternity Council, contains many categories and winning one of
these categories, an Individual Programming Excellence Award, is very prestigious. During Purdue’s
Greek Week Chapter of Chapters it was announced that we won the award for membership recruitment. We
are very honored and are looking forward to continue our excellent recruitment. Thanks to Vice
President Jacob Schroeder for compiling the documentation for the award.
PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HOUSE The house is constantly being improved to provide a better atmosphere for everyone in it. Over the
summer it was not only thoroughly cleaned, but new door locks were installed, portions of the
electrical system were updated, and more fire detectors were installed. The Parent’s Club re-felted
the pool table, and bought us a grill, and generous alumnus James Rust pur56 bought a leather sofa
for the formal living room. We built booths in the rec room to give us more seating and give the
room a “sports bar” feel. More improvements lie ahead.
